My translation career goes back to part-time translation while a student at Foreign Language Studies Department of Sophia University, and I translated English contract documents and manufacturer's manuals into Japanese. During my tenure as researcher in Taylor Nelson Sofres NRC (now known as Taylor Nelson Sofres-Infoplan), multi-national marketing research company, I went through a number of translation checks of B2C or B2B research-related materials such as questionnaires and verbatim as well as management of various research projects. After leaving the company, I started to take on English-Japanese or Japanese-English translation of marketing-research-related documents at AKERMA Corporation, making use the experience of marketing research.

Our major clients include multi-national marketing research companies and local research firms, who outsource to us E-J or J-E translation of various types of research materials such as questionnaire, verbatim, reports, interview transcripts, etc.

Apart from marketing research domain, my background of research in financial/ securities market also developed my translation repertoire.  As sales person and researcher, during 9 years of working for British securities houses, I was tasked to write up bilingual bi-weekly reports on Japanese derivative market. At Thomson Financial, Thomson Corporation K.K. I carried out planning venture capital surveys and drawing up bilingual press release documents.

Furthermore, as a volunteer interpreter/ translator at Nihon Iryo Seitai Gakuin School (http://www.nisg.jp/ ) where I learned Seital therapy (a type of Japanese manipulative treatment) skills, I have participated in and coordinated free trial sessions for foreigners living in Japan as well as English-translating critical seitai documents.
